Purpose:
In this lesson, students will explore different forms of energy generation for electricity, including non-renewable and renewable energy sources. They will also examine the difference between clean renewable energy sources and non-clean or dirty renewable energy sources. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to differentiate between fossil fuels and renewable energy and explain where fossil fuels come from and why they are not renewable. They will be able to identify various alternative fuel sources, describe how each generates electricity, and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each. Access the lesson materials here.
