PARKing Day

PARKing Day

PARK(ing) Day is an annual international event where residents, artists, and activists come together to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into "PARK(ing)" spaces: temporary public places.

The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, to generate critical debate around how public space is created and allocated, and to improve the quality of urban human habitat … at least until the meter runs out!

The project began in 2005 when Rebar, a San Francisco art and design studio, converted a single metered parking space into a temporary public park in downtown San Francisco. Since 2005, PARK(ing) Day has evolved into a global movement, with organizations and individuals creating new forms of temporary public space in urban contexts around the world.

Please swing by Climable's space (in front of the Central Square Target on Mass Ave.) and check out our interactive microgrid model! We'll post more details as they become available.

Veolia CoGen Plant Tour

Veolia CoGen Plant Tour

Humans have come up with a number of creative ways to create energy. One is CHP- combined heat and power. There is a great example of it IRL here in Cambridge, MA. The Veolia CoGeneration Plant produces electricity and uses waste heat for heating and cooling in buildings nearby.

The recycled waste heat is used for steam heating, heating water, or powering chillers. CHP uses less fuel than if produced separately and can achieve up to 80% efficiency- meaning its carbon footprint is a lot lower than traditional electricity generation.

If you find this interesting you should join us as we tour the plant! Space is LIMITED. To reserve your spot, please email info@climable.org and you will be sent confirmation information as well as other important tour details.

Hope you can join us!
