The NextGen STEMFest is an event designed to ignite a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in students of all ages.
It takes place on Saturday, May 10th from 10AM-5PM at locations both inside and outside of the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation in Waltham, MA. The Festival will coincide with the Watch City Steampunk Festival, an annual Festival bringing 5,000-10,000 attendees to downtown Waltham.
The NextGen STEMFest aims to spark curiosity and enthusiasm for STEM fields through hands-on learning experiences and demonstrations. It also offers companies the opportunity to showcase the exciting career opportunities available in STEM.
The National Science Foundation is an independent agency of the US federal government, supporting fundamental research and education in all the non-medical fields of science and engineering. It has been a bedrock of scientific and engineering research and education for 75 years. Recently, the Trump Administration has taken steps to dismantle the NSF and has frozen or canceled thousands of grants, totalling well over $500 million to researchers and institutions, and will not be awarding any new grants for an uncertain period of time—a move that some scientists are calling, “a slow moving apolocyles.” So, it’s even more imperative that we all show up and have a great time at this NSF-supported event. Let’s make it clear how much Massachusetts supports scientific and engineering inquiry!
