Climable is a woman-led nonprofit in Cambridge, MA, with a mission to make climate science and clean energy understandable and actionable for everyone. Climable’s end goals are energy democracy (public participation in the energy transition) and climate resilience (improved avenues for anticipating, preparing for, and responding to climate disasters).
What We Do
EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Empowerment starts with reliable information. We equip individuals and communities with scientifically accurate information through our educational programs that serve a wide audience of learners.
CLEAN ENERGY ACCESSIBILITY
Accessibility for all is at the core of our work. We develop clean energy community microgrids and resilience hubs in environmental justice communities to strengthen climate resilience and justice.
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
Meaningful stakeholder engagement is key to equitable progress. We bring together parties involved with the energy system, including end-users and the general public, to discuss energy solutions.

The holiday season is full of joy and love, but it also fuels overconsumption. This excessive rate of consumption disproportionately impacts the most vulnerable communities, as the wealthiest continue emitting far more carbon than any others. Overconsumption is costing us much more than just our money.
Peaker plants—energy generation sources or power plants that are used at times of extremely high demand—are some of the dirtiest components of power grid. They also are typically found around low-income communities and communities with a high percentage of BIPOC individuals. In other words, they’re typically built on the fenceline of Environmental Justice communities. Read on to learn more about the dirt on peaker plants and a solution to clean them up.
Food deserts exist today due to structural racism and classism in America. Community gardens are one way that these communities can have access to nutritious food that everyone deserves.
Preparing communities for the impacts of climate change is a necessary and pressing actions local, state, and federal governments must do. But, when low-income communities undergo green investment and development, local, longterm community members are often left out of the planning and then pushed out of the community by rising costs of living. What can we do to prepare for climate change equitably? Read this blog to find out.

The truth may shock you…or maybe it won’t if you know anything about the tactics of the major (harmful) corporate industries. Find out how Big Oil has misled the public once again in this blog.
