What we do

Founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2012, Climable distills complicated information that is relevant to our most pressing environmental and energy challenges into plain, easy-to-understand language. We work hard to make sure accessible energy information is available to everyone, and we help our clients and partners navigate decision-making around clean energy accessibility programs. We are committed to empowering environmental justice communities in the energy transition.

Our work focuses on community resilience through microgrid development, education initiatives for all, and stakeholder engagement. We proudly impact communities in the New England area and beyond. Our programs are shaped, guided, and led by the communities we serve.

How We Work:

Our work focuses on three areas:

1. Education and outreach

Empowerment starts with reliable information. We equip individuals and communities with scientifically accurate information through our educational programs that serve a wide audience of learners. In our community education programs, we empower individuals with knowledge about climate science and clean energy and bring awareness to environmental justice. Our internship programs provide experiences in the energy, environmental, and nonprofit sectors for both students and non-students. We lay the foundation for socially responsible careers and community involvement for individuals from all backgrounds. Learn more here.

2. Clean energy accessibility

Accessibility for all is at the core of our work. We develop clean energy community microgrids in environmental justice communities. Climable ensures that community input leads decision-making and advocates for cooperative tenant ownership of the equipment. Our projects promote sustainable energy solutions, foster energy literacy through education, and expand access to microgrid projects to support communities in their pursuit of climate resilience and justice.

Updating the electric grid can leave behind vulnerable and low-income communities. Climable’s leadership of the Resilient Urban Neighborhoods (RUN) program gives at-risk populations a voice in the development of local clean energy and decarbonization projects by connecting them with the technical expertise they need to take action. 3. Stakeholder engagement

Meaningful stakeholder engagement is key to equitable progress. Our approach involves bringing together the various parties involved with the energy system, including end-users and the general public, to discuss energy solutions. Climable acts as a bridge between residents, community-based organizations, and energy experts in local communities. We develop understandable educational materials on renewable energy concepts to ensure that information is accessible, and we empower communities to actively participate in shaping their energy landscape. We work hard to make sure decisions are shaped by stakeholder feedback. Learn More Here.
