Purpose:

In this lesson, students will explore forms of energy generation for electricity, including non-renewable and renewable energy sources. They will also examine the difference between clean renewable energy sources and non-clean or dirty renewable energy sources. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to define both fossil fuels and renewable energy and explain where fossil fuels come from and why they are not renewable. They will be able to identify various alternative fuel sources, describe how they generate electricity, and explain the advantages and disadvantages of each.
